National Nonprofit Day is an opportunity to celebrate the positive impact of the nonprofit sector and to show appreciation for the dedication of those who work tirelessly to make a difference. Nonprofits often go unrecognized because they are not part of corporate America and will never be a Fortune 500 company.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is one of 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the United States. We are not dedicated to making a profit but rather making a difference. We are proud to report that $.87 of every donor dollar goes directly to services. Our concerns are making sure we can continue to:
- Ensure the children in our community do not go to bed hungry and have a bed to sleep on
- Help the unsheltered find a warm meal, a place to stay and people who care
- Deliver food to the homebound – 380 each week
- Feed 4,500 households each week
- Provide clothing, furniture, household goods and financial assistance to over 19,000 neighbors
- Educate our neighbors toward self-sufficiency through our Changing Lives Forever Program -over 600 graduates to date
This is an excellent opportunity for SVdP Indy to say thank you to our donors, volunteers and partners who have shared this journey with us for over 75 years locally, 170 years nationally and 180 years internationally. We are in the business to serve others, spark change and build a better world. This day is not only a cause for celebration but a call to action. Our work is challenging, but the impact is real, and this day reminds us all of what’s possible when we come together. We need you now more than ever as the needs of our neighbors continue to grow. We need you financially, materially, physically and spiritually to pray for our neighbors and our mission. Thank you for helping us help others and making a difference.
