St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Indy is excited to announce that our 30th Street Food Pantry (3001 E. 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46218) is returning to indoor-only shopping right after the Labor Day holiday! Beginning Sept. 7, we’ll have new hours and procedures as we transition back to a client-choice pantry. We’ll also end the drive-thru service we adopted in April 2020 that allowed us to continue serving clients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re pleased to get back to our normal operations, so we can more directly interact with our neighbors,” says Bob Williams, Food Pantry Director. “As we’ve prepared for this transition, we’ve made several changes to ensure we continue to protect staff, volunteers and clients, as well as give our clients an enjoyable and efficient experience as they shop for nutritious, healthy food products.”
Pantry Days & Hours (Beginning Sept. 7)
- Tuesday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Thursday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. AND 5-7 p.m.
- Friday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Saturday: 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. (Beginning 11/6/21, pantry hours shifting to 8-11)
Clients may shop at our pantry once per calendar week.
What Clients Need to Bring
- Proof of address (utility bill or business mail with name and postmark within last 30 days)
- Mask (For the protection of our SVdP family, those who are not vaccinated are asked to continue wearing a mask indoors or in areas where social distancing is not possible. For those who are fully vaccinated, we strongly recommend following ISDH and the CDC guidance for mask wearing indoors.)

- Follow the point system based upon household size
- Single-person households: 15 shopper points
- Multi-person households (2+): 20 shopper points
- Choose groceries within the point range (every product is 1 point unless marked “no points”)
- Bag your groceries, exit and return your cart
Celebrating the Transition
“While we were forced to shift our operations last year, we worked hard to maintain and nurture relationships as we all lived in the uncertain times of COVID,” says Williams. “I’m proud of how everyone adapted and made the best of the situation. But we celebrate this transition back to in-person shopping where our neighbors can choose the foods they want for their family.”
