SVdP St. Paul The Apostle, Greencastle UPDATE
Our president, Laura Parish, will be moving from Greencastle at the end of 2025. Because of work and other demands she has relinquished her position as president as of now. We will greatly miss her and are thankful for her dedicated and untiring service to our Conference. We are is the process of selecting a new president and until then I will be serving as president.
We have been overwhelmed with requests for help, particularly those regarding lodging.
We have an “adopt a family” program. Over the last few years the two families in the program have achieved stability and success beyond our expectations. We are beginning the process of finding another family for the program.
We are coordinating contributions by our parish to the local non-food pantry.
We continue to seek new, and younger, members.
St. Malachy Conference
Our conference continues to work on recruiting and retaining new members. We have involved the director of Communication and Outreach at St. Malachy to assist us. She had someone conduct interviews with several people in order to better understand our parish, our parishioners and our conference. She was able to identify several people that were interested in St. Vincent de Paul. On 11-Nov-2025, Paul Ainslie and Pat Jerrell came to St. Malachy and talked to the interested parishioners about the society. We will have another meeting in December to discuss with them our conference activities and how they can help us.
St Thomas More
We just had elections. I am the new president and have a sharp learning curve. We have been in touch with the Dream Center to obtain a variety of socks which we plan to give to our friends and to the prison ministery. Our hopes is to get our Faith Formation youth involved in distribution. We have been servicing our friends as we are able. We are discussing possible fund raisers so that we will be able to to help more individuals or families. That will be one of the focuses for our December meeting. Since I am unaware of what other things I should put in this kind of report, I would be happy to talk to you personally. I can be reached at 765-243-1017. My email is danbrock3rd@yahoo.com.
St. Michaels SVdP Conference
St. Michael’s has had a large uptick in assistance requests. We have had 23 requests so far this month. We are also doing a food drive this month and are working on our annual Christmas Giving Tree, which allows parishioners the opportunity to take a family name from the tree and provide gifts for that family.
St. Anthony SVdP Conference
St. Anthony has set up our Giving Tree.
St. Gabriel SVdP Conference
St. Gabriel hosted a very successful blanket drive in October and had our last Stuff the Truck for the year. Stuff a truck had all bins full with clothing and shoes.
St. Susanna SVdP Conference
We’ve begun our Christmas Assistance Program, known as The Giving Tree. Kristin heads this up with various volunteers from our parish – some SVdP members, some not. We already have received 29 requests, and while trying to refer as many as we can to a program here in Hendricks county known as “Project A.N.G.E.L. Of Hendricks County” many won’t be able to get applications in on time, so we’re standing by! Last year we helped 39 families and approximately 175 people. At the rate we’re going we expect to see substantially more. We’re blessed with an extremely generous parish to support this ministry!
We are also in the process of transitioning two new treasurers to replace our current two treasurers, Bob and Nancy Klueg, who feel the need to step down after serving in their role for about 20 years. They will always be Vincentians though, and will remain in our conference for as long as the Lord allows! Again, we are blessed.
St. Monica SVdP Conference
St. Monica’s giving tree will serve at least 54 families this year. We will serve at least that many families with Thanksgiving baskets of food as well.
Our plarn ministry members continue to provide sleeping mats for the homeless.
St. Ann lndpls SVdP Conference
St. Ann’s has voted to take full responsibility of the Giving tree program (food baskets and gifts), we have added another new member, who has become very active very quickly. We will serve between 25-30 food baskets with gift cards via our giving tree this year. We are still trying our best to help with requests from the St Joe’s area and we are coming up with different means of raising funds so that we can serve more of those calling to us for help.
