Bulletin pleas for help along with the news and shutdown has increased donations. They are nearer to the request level.

We have started our parish advent project at the Thanksgiving mass (2 to 4 weeks’ worth of grocery) for 88 families that were identified to be in need. parishioners sign up to sponsor a needy family or give money for a family. We will be buying groceries on 12-19 for those that money is given for the families, 12-20 we will collect groceries from parishioners for families they sponsor. 12-21 we give out the grocery to families in need along with coats and gift cards that the K of C provider. The parish had done this for over 50 years, and it was in need of someone to take over so at Father’s request starting last year SVdP has taken charge. We get the help of the K of C, middle & high school children and parishioners. It helps the parish to be involved with SVdP and for SVdP to become part of the parish.

We had about eight people attend Ozanam Training. We held an in-house ServWare training for about eight people.

Additionally,
1. Conference President Tim Naville spoke to a gathering of 137 OLPH schoolchildren in the fifth to eighth grades about the work that SVDP does in our community. Prior to the meeting, the school had asked for donations to SVDP from the children, and the school presented a check to our conference for $393.00 to use to help our neighbors

2. The church staff prepared a Thanksgiving dinner basket for a SVDP neighbor who was faced with having no food for her family on Thanksgiving.

3. Vincentian Cassidy Brown attended the Ozanam Orientation training at St. John-Paul II parish on November 15th and reported back to the conference at our regular meeting in November.

4. Cassidy Brown has returned to serve as our conference Secretary, leaving only the position of Vice-President unfilled.

5. OLPH Conference partnered with Holy Family SVDP to donate a kitchen table and chairs to a neighbor who had just moved and had little to no furniture in her new apartment.

In September, we helped 12 families, total of 39 neighbors in the amount of $1690.95. In October we helped 11 families of 39 neighbors in the amount of $ 1540.95. We are getting on average 30 calls a day for assistance. Most of the bills are for rent or electricity and over $1000.00. We help what we can. We have 4 new members. I know 2 went to Ozanam training on Nov 15th. One was unable to go and didn’t know if the 4th one went. We are working on home visits with 2 of them. We are planning our Christmas get together on December 9th. The treasurer assures me she will have the annual report done by November 30th.

Still working on a new President.

We have just completed the distribution of 3 food boxes and a $20 ham each to 50 families mostly in Floyd County for Thanksgiving. We are now beginning to assemble the food boxes for those 50 families for Christmas. In addition, we are also collecting 310 angel tree gifts for those families.

We are trying to schedule furniture pickup and deliveries on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday morning, weather permitting. We have a steady flow of donations and a seemingly endless need.

The conference is financially in good shape. Our daily calls for assistance has recently thankfully dropped from between 10 to 15 calls every day to 5 to 7 calls. We are on track to complete our annual report by November 30.
