For the third consecutive year, members of the St. Mary Conference packed 80 bags of non-perishable food at SVdP Indy’s 30th Street Food Pantry and delivered them to the Crooked Creek Elementary School. The Conference provided two bags of groceries plus a Kroger gift card to each of 40 families.
“We are blessed to be able to assist these families with nutritional food,” says Jeni Christoffersen, acting St. Mary Conference President.
Crooked Creek School has a diverse range of underserved and financially insecure households, including many immigrant and refugee families. The summer months when school is out present a real challenge for these families trying to make ends meet. We are helping to reduce that burden.
“The summer food program has allowed our students and families at Crooked Creek Elementary to access extra nutritional assistance. This valuable partnership assists families in need and provides a helping hand. We are grateful for this partnership,” says Cindy Lambert, school social worker.
