By Paul Ainslie, President of SVdP Indy Council, and Peter Zubler, Executive Director

Earlier this year, we shared that the worsening state of homelessness had compelled the SVdP Indy Council to ask, “What more can we do?” The answer resulted in the purchase of a residential housing facility with 24/7 support for those experiencing homelessness.

Since the building purchase in Q2, we’ve been busy preparing for the opening of the facility: the Love Your Neighbor Center. We’ve moved ahead as rapidly as possible: cleaning, rearranging, organizing, upgrading the IT network and making ADA improvements. There’s still more work to do but we’re pleased with all that’s been accomplished to date.

Presently, our main focus is on staffing. We have several key position to fill, including:

  • Director of LYNC Services
  • Programming Manager
  • Skilled case workers
  • Additional staff as necessary, including maintenance and operations

If you or anyone you know is interested in serving on our team, please visit our Careers page on our website to view job descriptions and download an application. Additionally, you can reach out to Peter Zubler at 317-924-5769 ext. 202 or pzubler@svdpindy.org to inquire about any of the positions.

By year’s end (if not sooner!), our goal is to open our doors and house up to about a dozen men. Next year, we plan to add a food pantry and other services to the center. We’ll continue to build upon our current programs and partnerships to give those who are ready and capable an option where they can build a foundation for a new start.
