Opportunites for Business Donations

The Reader’s Digest referred to our charity services as “The charity that nobody knows!” Perhaps you may be one of those who may not be sure who we are, who we serve and how we get it all done. We have decided to reach out, by whatever means we can, to the businesses surrounding us to acquaint them with our special works and are hopeful you will want to help.

We operate a 50,000 square foot distribution center and eleven (11) trucks. We have 35 food distribution pantries and on-site programs that provide food for the poor all year long. More than 25.000 needy are served each year with nice clothing, warm bedding, household furniture, major appliances and a wide array of sickroom and handicap equipment. On an average 300 beds are provided each month! The thousands whom we serve do not include many more thousands of visits to our food pantries or feeding sites.

Yes, it is a very big charity program, but what most people don’t know is it is fully operated by a staff of 100% volunteers. Not a single person is paid. We do not receive any government dollars. We do not receive any direct aid from United Way or Church funds. The most unusual part is that our services and goods are furnished FREE OF ANY CHARGE!

Since we do not routinely sell any items and do not receive financial support from the usual government, church or United Way agencies, we must raise our own funds. Our dollars go much further than most of the well known charity services because we do not have any paid staff!

We are reaching out to you folks for some of the urgently needed dollars to cover the costs of operating our huge distribution center, eleven trucks, pay utilities, printing and postage and to purchase tens of thousands of dollars worth of items needed to fulfill requests for help.

Many businesses make generous donations to SVDP that have been a great benefit to the poor of our community. May we ask you the help us in this worthy effort? Merchandise in kind as well as furnishings or other equipment are gratefully accepted.
