1. Proper Dress
Slacks, jeans, no shorts, modest tops. No sandals/flip flops.

The dock is a very busy place. Please be aware of your surroundings.

Our Maryland Street Distribution Center serves all of central Indiana. Appliances, beds, furniture, clothing,, linens, and basic household goods are received from donaors, or from vendors at discounted prices. These items are distributed using a Referral Form system after clients’ needs have been determined and verified through home visits. The following volunteer opportunities exist for the overall function of the Distribution Center:

Truck Driver (CDL not required)

Pick up donations for our Distribution Center on a typical 10 or 12 stop run. Tw0 person teams are assigned to each truck.
Saturday – 8 AM until job is finished typically by 2 pm.
(occasionally on weekdays by appointment)

Dock Workers

Work in teams to gather items for clients. Help load items in clients’ cars. Maintains dock load area to ease any congestion. Help unload items brought in by truck drivers at completion of their pickup routes.                                         Saturday – 8 AM until job is finished, typically by 2 PM.

Donations Receiver

Receives donations and provides receipts for these as requested.
Monday — Saturday – 8:30 AM until 1 PM

Donations Sorter

Sort clothing and miscellaneous donations.
Monday — Friday – 8:30 AM until 1 PM

Client Intake

Basic computer skills needed, and knowledge of Home Visit procedures.
Monday– Saturday  10 AM – 4:00 PM. in three-hour shifts.

Electricians & Carpenters

Times vary depending on need.

Appliance Repair

Monday and Wednesday – 8 AM – 1 PM

Furniture Repair

Monday – Wednesday – 8 AM – 1 PM

Buildings & Grounds Maintenance

Times vary depending on need.

Truck Maintenance

Monday – as needed.
